In addition to the current coverage ratio ('actuele dekkingsgraad' in Dutch), the policy coverage ratio ('beleidsdekkingsgraad' in Dutch) was introduced on 1 January 2015. This ‘new’ coverage ratio determines the pension fund's policy decisions.
The policy coverage ratio is the average of the coverage ratios of the past 12 months. By using an average, the policy coverage ratio fluctuates less.
The critical coverage ratio indicates the level of the current coverage ratio at which additional measures must be taken to exceed the minimum required capital (Minimaal Vereist Eigen Vermogen - MVEV in Dutch) within five years, or to exceed the required capital (Vereist Eigen Vermogen - VEV in Dutch) within 10 years.
