You will build up capital for your pension
We want to switch to the new pension scheme on 1 January 2026. Currently, a flexible contribution scheme is the preferred option. This means that with the contributions you and your employer pay, you build up a capital for your pension. We invest the capital.
We divide the return on investments directly among all pension pots. This return can be positive, but sometimes negative. You're going to see that your expected pension will fluctuate more than it does now. We always estimate the variable pension the capital provides.
End of 2025 you will receive an initial estimate of your pension in the new scheme. Once we have actually switched, you will receive a new calculation and a statement of the capital you started with. The amount of the starting capital depends on our financial situation on 1 January 2026.
What remains the same?
You continue to pay a contribution each month for your pension. Part will be paid by Witteveen+Bos and part will be paid by you. When you retire, you will receive a pension for as long as you live. Under the new pension scheme, you decide when your pension will start. That is currently possible no later than age 67. The partner and orphan pension will remain, but the structure of the partner and orphan pension will change.
New choices
In the new pension scheme, you can choose whether to have the contribution invested with more or less risk than is standard for your age. And when you retire, you choose between fixed benefit (which is expected to be a bit lower, but more certain) or a variable benefit (which is expected to be a bit higher on average, but more uncertain).
Everyone who is already retired is also going to make this choice when we switch. Do you opt for a fixed pension? Then we transfer the value of the accrued pension to an insurer. We pay out the variable pensions ourselves.
