Living together

Do you live together, or are you going to live together? If so, we will not automatically receive your partner's details. If you want a partner's pension to be arranged for your partner, register your partner with us. A condition for your partner to be eligible for a partner's pension is that you have a notarial cohabitation agreement. You must also have lived together for at least six months and your partner must not be related to you.

Children

We get automatic notification from the municipality when you have a child. So you do not have to report the birth of a child. Each child is entitled to orphan's pension until the age of 25 if you die.

Separating

By law, your ex-partner is by default entitled to part of your pension that you accrued during your marriage or registered partnership. You can agree a different division when drafting the divorce covenant. Dividing the pension after a divorce is called ‘verevening' in Dutch. Does your ex-partner die? Then the part your ex-partner received (or would receive) will be added back to your pension.

You can also opt for ‘conversion’. Then the part to which your ex-partner is entitled and the value of the partner's pension to which your ex-partner is entitled will be converted into an own right to a pension. An own right means that your ex-partner can decide when the pension starts. Does your ex-partner die after conversion? Then you will not receive the pension your ex-partner received (or would receive) again.

By default, your ex-partner is entitled to the partner's pension you built up until the divorce. You can make other arrangements about that too. For example, your ex-partner can waive the partner's pension.

The pension fund can take care of the correct distribution if you inform us about the arrangements. If you do not pass anything on, you will have to take care of the pension distribution yourself.

Did you live together? Then by default, your ex-partner is only entitled to the partner's pension accrued during the relationship. In that case, you must have a cohabitation agreement that included your ex-partner as a beneficiary.

Moving house

We receive a change of address automatically, unless you are moving to or abroad. In that case, please inform us of your new address (and email address). This way we can continue to reach you when there is news about your pension.

Death

We are automatically notified when you die. We then check in our records whether a partner is known. We let your eventual partner know how he or she can apply for the partner's pension (and possibly the orphan's pension). Do you have children older than 18? In that case we will write to your children directly.
